Narendra Modi Fulfills Another Poll Promise!

The Government of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fulfilled another key poll promise. In a statement yesterday, the Union Cabinet announced the extension of several facilities to minority communities from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh who are residing in India on Long Term Visa (LTV).

The Cabinet has approved the following facilities to ease out the difficulties faced by Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians in the above-mentioned countries.

  • Opening of bank accounts.
  • Permission for the purchase of property for self-occupation and suitable accommodation for carrying out self – employment.
  • Permission to take self-employment.
  • Issuance of driving licence, PAN card, and Aadhar number.
  • Allowing free movement within the State /UT where they are staying.
  • Transfer of LTV papers from one State to other.
  • Waiver of penalty on non-extension of short term Visa /LTV on time.
  • Permission to apply for LTV from the place of present residence when the applicants have moved to the place without permission.

The Government of India has amended the Citizenship Rules 2009 in order to provide these benefits to the minorities. The Centre has also reduced the registration fees for Indian citizenship from Rs 3000 – Rs 15000 to a paltry Rs 100.

A list of states and their districts has been made available which will see their registrations as citizens of India.

2 Gujarat – Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Kutch
3 Madhya Pradesh – Bhopal and Indore
4 Maharashtra – Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune and Thane
5 Delhi – West Delhi and South Delhi
6 Rajasthan – Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Jaipur
7 Uttar Pradesh – Lucknow

The Indian Government under the leadership of Narendra Modi has taken several steps to support the stay of minorities in India. This is one-of-a-kind initiative which aims to help the minorities buy property, earn livelihood, and lead a respectable life in India.
