India has slammed Pakistan for slyly trying to change the status quo in Gilgit and Baltistan which remain in the occupation of the neighboring country.

The Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan was summoned yesterday and India lodged a strong protest on a recent order by Supreme Court of Pakistan on the so-called “Gilgit-Baltistan” which ‘is an interference in India’s internal affairs’.

It was reiterated by India that the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir, which also includes the so-called ‘Gilgit-Baltistan’ has been, is and shall remain an integral part of India and therefore, Pakistan Government or judiciary have no locus standii on territories illegally and forcibly occupied by it.
India has warned Pakistan that any action to alter the status of these occupied territories by Pakistan has no legal basis whatsoever.

India also said that it rejects such continuous attempts by Pakistan to bring material change in these occupied territories and to camouflage grave human rights violations, exploitation and sufferings of the people living there. Pakistan was told to immediately vacate all areas under its illegal occupation.

Pakistan Supreme Court has earlier asked the federal government in Pakistan to promulgate a new law within 15 days to give more rights, including human rights, to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan in PoK which have largely been missing so far. Due to the occupation of Gilgit and Baltistan anti-Pakistan protests happen aplenty in the region.
