New Delhi, April 30, 2016: Rajdeep Sardesai has left Twitter.

Earlier it had seemed that it was the work of hackers who got into his account and posted abusive direct messages as well but now it is getting more confusing.

His wife and a senior journalist Sagarika Ghosh retweeted a quote that read:

Finally an achievement NDA govt and its fans can boast about: made Rajdeep Sardesai quit Twitter. It took two years of hard work.

She also tweeted: An utterly insane campaign of abuse against journalists, many a/cs even followed by ministers & . shocking

Hey you need to check on why so many now prefer to leave your network .

Her anger at NDA politicians is however unjustified as many had started following some of them when Twitter was just happening. Also, many other politicians also follow some equally problematic people.  The social media is a free place and no one can put restrictions here, may be that is why common decency has gone extinct.

Earlier Rajdeep Sardesai had tweeted this:

Here is one of the vulgar messages that apparently went from his account:

Almost all journalists and opinion makers are routinely subjected to ridicule including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and even Rahul Gandhi.

Many Twitter users are now making fun of Rajdeep Sardesai, like Rupa Subramanya, an economist with huge following who wrote:

‘Just woke up to the news Rajdeep Sardesai has quit twitter for the moment. This is going to be a great day!!

She also tweeted: “Rajdeep threatened to quit twitter many times but never did.I know 3 year olds less attention seeking than him”

And there are others as well:

Arvind Kejriwal is also trolled a lot but all of them have shown much spine in the troubled online world without breaking sweat. Perhaps our journalists could  learn a thing or two from our politicians?
