Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Keith Rowley and his wife Mrs. Sharon Rowley enjoyed Diwali celebrations at the Diplomatic Centre, St Anns yesterday (Sunday 04 November 2018).
Diwali is one of the major festivals of the Hindu community worldwide and Trinidad and Tobago are no different with the Prime Minister himself wearing a crisp kurta and his wife doing the honors in Indian wear.
Among those in attendance were more than fifty families who were affected by the recent floods.
Hindus are the second-largest religious group (24%) after Roman Catholics in the total population of 1.3 million people.
The Prime Minister was forced to tender an apology to the Hindus of his nation after a skit in which a woman was shown as being disrobed.
