Sindh, May 17, 2016: In Pakistan, the Hindu community yet again came out on the streets to protest against the murdered and sexually abused boy Inder Vineet.

This time the protest took place at the Karachi Press Club on Sunday 15th May, 2016 and had an active backing of Sindhi secular and intelligentsia as well. It is important to note that the state government is under the secular Pakistan People’s Party and so far it has not even bothered to pay even lip service to the sad demise and the brutal assault on an 11-year old Inder Vineet which took place at the Hyderabad Club.

The problem in the case stems from the fact that the owner of Hyderabad Club is said to have relations with several members of the ruling PPP and that is why the politicians are keeping mum on the case. The case of Inder Vineet is crucial as it highlights the vulnerability of the children of the minority community in the event of violation and the lack of justice and political empathy after it.

Although paedophilia is illegal in Pakistan, yet many minor children of minorities such as Hindus, Christians and Sikhs become victims of sexual exploitation and forced conversion as well.

Therefore, the thought behind this unrelenting movement is simple; that Pakistan ensures justice in this case so that no other child has to face what the 11-year old Inder Vineet faced.

It is yet to be seen what would make of this movement and whether the late Inder Vineet gets justice, but what is praiseworthy is that the community is not letting this incident go unchallenged, giving hope to many others who suffer injustice in silence in the nation.

The Hindu community and secular intelligentsia may again come on to the streets to protest if its demand of fair investigation is not met.
