Indian women have been at the forefront of bravery, beauty, and have broken the glass ceiling in every possible field.

They are and have always been an inspiration to the world.

While Indian women like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone make us proud with their offshore achievements in the field of art and glamour, we also have women in armed forces who win laurels for India abroad.

Here is another inspiring Indian woman, the late Neerja Bhanot, whose life and tryst with fear the nation of India will celebrate on this Friday when a movie on her life and her courage in the face of death will release.

Titled ‘Neerja,’ Sonam Kapoor, the Bollywood’s own fashionista will portray the feisty and patriotic Neerja.

Neerja Bhanot, a 23-year old senior flight attendant was killed in the September 5 1986 hijacking of a Pan Am flight.

This flight was hijacked while it was parked at the tarmac on the Jinnah International Airport at Pakistan’s Karachi.

She helped save 359 lives on board Pan Am Flight 73.

Neerja hid away the passports of the American passengers on board this flight, thereby preventing the hijackers from identifying their nationality.

She was able to save everyone except three children whom she was taking to safety when the terrorists caught up with her and shot her dead while she shielded the kids.

The Indian nation honored her with the Ashok Chakra and she became the first civilian recipient and also the youngest person to receive the rare honor.

FoxStarHindi today released a highly evocative video where one can hear her speak for the first time video.

One of the most eagerly awaited movies of the year 2015, Neerja releases on February 19, 2016 and already has Bollywood stars and Indian celebrities rooting for it.

Sonam Kapoor’s portrayal of Neerja Bhanot looks promising in the trailers and stills and the audience is gearing up to see Neerja’s story come to life on the big screen.

Wishing Neerja best of luck!
