Sasikala has been requested by hundreds of the party functionaries from various districts today to lead the party which saw late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa take to new heights. Passionate followers surrounded Sasikala while she maintained a stoic silence unwilling to let anyone into her thoughts.
Sasikala is seen as the natural success of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa as she was very close to her and is known to be someone who shared a natural bond with her. However, their relationship had its own ups and downs, therefore, many see this wooing by the party as something unpalatable.
Many ardent late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa supporters are unhappy with her, but it must be seen what they want from the party. Chief Minister Panneerselvam may have become the Chief Minister but he does not have the stature that late TN CM Jayalalithaa enjoyed and so he is in need of a strong support for his chair or else he could very well become a target of DMK.
Perhaps, sensing something like this to be a possibility in the future, the party is leaving no stones remain unturned to bring the silent force behind the late TN CM to now take the reigns of the party in her hands. It is also very likely that sooner or later Sasikala would relent, because, after all, how can she allow the AIADMK go supportless when it was her own friend who nurtured it through tumultuous political weathers for decades?
Sasikala has very little choice if she gives into her loyalty towards the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, but if she chooses to remain a political recluse for long, then she may end up becoming ineffectual in the longer run. So whatever she has to do and decide, she must do it now. The time is ripe.
