Indian Coffee is winning hearts abroad

Indian Coffee is considered to be one of the best coffees in the world due to its high quality and fetches high premium in the international markets. India’s coffee exports reached an all-time high of 3.95 lakh Metric Tonnes (MT) during 2017-18. The demand for Indian coffee has increased in Germany, Indonesia, USA, Poland, Libya, Spain, Tunisia, Ukraine, Italy and Belgium.

Premium tag for coffee grown in Araku valley

The following information was given by the Minister of State of Commerce and Industry, C. R. Chaudhary, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on 18th July 2018:

Coffee is primarily an export commodity for India. The demand and consumption in domestic market is about 25% to 30% of country’s coffee production and therefore, does not drastically impact the prices of coffee in the domestic market.
