Indian music won hearts when Mexico’s star swimming pair Karem Achach and Nuria Diosdado decided to take to Bollywood for their enthralling performance in the Rio Olympics.

Their moves on the song ‘Aila re Aila’ from Akshay Kumar’s comedy film Khatta Meetha evoked gasps and praises all around.

The movie released in 2010 but did not exactly set the box-office on fire.
Noticing the tweets that tagged him, Rustom Akshay Kumar congratulated the Mexican pair in the following words:

Superb stuff Congratulations to them for qualifying for the finals.

Why Rio Olympics heard Bollywood music?

Indian music, especially Bollywood music, is highly popular among other nationalities for its dance beats that make it easier to perform. Bollywood style dancing is considered to be highly enjoyable in the West.

Bollywood music scaled new heights after AR Rahman’s spectacular win at the Oscars in the year 2009 for the track ‘Jai Ho.’

In short, India may not have got any medals so far in the Rio Olympics, but it indeed is present thanks to the Mexicans!
