Rio Olympics 2016: Vinesh, Sakshi qualify in women wrestling

New York, May 7, 2016: Vinesh Phogat won a major honor today after becoming the fifth wrestler from India.

She is also the first woman wrestler to get a berth in the Rio Olympics 2016.

Vinesh Phogat, 21, defeated Turkey’s Evin Demirhan in the semifinals of the final qualifying round in Istanbul today in the 48 kg category.

Sakshi Malik became the second woman to get the honour for India in the 58-kg category.

Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik join the ranks of  Narsingh Yadav, Sandeep Tomar, Yogeshwar Dutt and Hardeep Singh.

Yogeshwar Dutt also congratulated the two and wrote:

Rio Olympics 2016 is like a dream come true for any sports person and for India it is extremely important to show that it has real talent.

Salman Khan is the goodwill ambassador of the Indian Olympic contingent and he too is busy boosting morale of the team in is own style.

Interestingly, the bollywood heavyweight plays a wrestler from Haryana named ‘Sultan’ in the upcoming movie by the same name!

In short, the Rio Olympics 2016, will also see Indian actors, with massive fan following, backing the sport stars in the  Mahakumbh of sports.

In short, for many Indians, Rio Olympics 2016 means that issey bada kuch nahin! Or nothing can be bigger than this!
