Bangladesh: Hindu priest beheaded, IS gaining ground?

Dhaka, February 22, 2016: Bangladesh is turning violent by the day for its minority Hindu community.

Bangladesh Minority Watch has stated that the Bangladesh government does not believe that the latest murder of a Hindu priest, which also injured two other (devotees) people, is the work of the Islamic State nor is this murder a sign of its increasing presence.

This despite the fact that the intelligence of the country is increasingly growing suspicious of the ISIS sympathizers on its soil and that ISIS has itself confessed that it is responsible for this recent attack which killed the Hindu Priest Shri Jageswar Roy of Sree Sree Santagouriya Math located at Panchagarh District of Bangladesh.

The brutal murder took place on 21st of February, 2016.

What is worrisome is that such murders are becoming common in the country with the government content on being in the denial.

The Bangladesh Minority Watch has expressed serious concerns on this brutal murder of the Hindu Priest in the broad daylight. It has also demanded that the perpetrators be arrested soon and be punished as per the law of the land.

It is important to state that many violations of this type are taking place in Bangladesh and the country is unable to stop the number of violent attacks.

Already, secular and Atheist bloggers, a total of five, have been gruesomely murdered by home-grown terror units in the country while many are still under threat.

We had earlier also reported about the beheading of a Hindu man and other such attacks happening on the minorities in the country.

There are also the cases of forceful land grabbing and assaults which are undertaken with systematic precision to drive the Hindu community out of the country .

These attacks are taking place with the ‘alleged’ participation of the Sheikh Hasina-led ruling secular Awami League’s workers.
