Sindh, June 3, 2016: Rising hate crimes against Hindus in Malaysia and subsequent assault on the religious places has angered the community. The Temple in question is a century old Muthumariamman Temple which is situated in Seberang Perai Central (Penang) and as per the local reports, it was vandalized in the midnight of June 1.

Many statues were broken down by the perpetrators who targeted the Temple with vengeance.

The desecration comes close on to the heels of Sree Muneeswaran Amman Temple in Ipoh (Perak) which was desecrated on April 24 and also had  many Hindu god statues broken.

Hindus are at the receiving end due to their religion in a Muslim-majority Malaysia and are mostly of Indian origin. They also comprise 7.8 percent or 1.8 million of the 23 million total population but yet have been on the receiving end as Malaysia continues to disassociate itself from other religions.

Malaysia is considered a liberal Muslim nation but its treatment of its minorities is akin to the one that they receive in Muslim nations of the Indian subcontinent.

For example, In Malaysia Christians are banned from using Allah for God while Buddhist and Hindu ancestry of Malaysians is also frowned upon now.
