New York, June 8, 2016: A spate of recent killings has shocked Bangladesh. Yesterday, on June 7, a Hindu priest Anando Gopal Ganguly, aged 69, was brutally attacked by three motorcycle riding three unidentified men at about 9.30 a.m. at the Jhenaidaha District of Bangladesh.

The killers followed the Hindu priest who was on a humble cycle on his way to the Temple he served, and first used a cane to hit him on his head. They then surrounded a bleeding and a hurt elderly Hindu priest, and then overpowered him and slit his throat.

Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) contacted Mohammad Ajbahar Ali Sheikh- Additional Superintendent of Police, Jhenaidaha who knew about the case and informed that soon the First Information Report (F.I.R) would be filed.

BDMW also spoke with Md. Hasan Harfizur Rahman-Offficer in Charge of Jhenaidaha Sadar Police Station who said that after the funeral of his father the son will file a report. The officer also said that in case the son fails to file a report then he would do so on his own.

Earlier, on Sunday, this very week, a poor Christian grocer was hacked to death in Natore. The killers fled away after brutally eliminating Sunil Gomez, the Christian man, who was at his vegetable stall near a Church at the Bonpara village. The Christian man, Sunil Gomez (pic below), was murdered just like a Hindu tailor Nikhil Joarder was murdered in April in Tangail.
