Foreign Secretary to head to the United States to review bilateral relations

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson today said that India’s Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale will be visiting the USA.

A statement told media personnel that the Foreign Secretary is visiting Washington DC on 11-13 March in connection with the bilateral Foreign Office Consultation and Strategic Security Dialogue with his U. S. counterparts, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale and Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Andrea Thompson respectively.

These are regular high-level dialogue mechanisms to review bilateral relations, exchange views on major foreign policy and security-related developments and coordinate respective positions on issues of common interest, a press note said today

During his visit, the Foreign Secretary is also likely to meet with senior leaders in the U. S. administration and U. S. Congress.
