Doraemon is about to go the Hanuman way, in short, it may get banned! Hindu cartoons and others promoting values other than the Islamic values are now on the hit list in Pakistan!

Goodbye, Doraemon! You are next after the ‘Hindu’ cartoons!

The problem with these Hindu cartoons and others is that they speak of alien values; i.e. introducing characters such as Doraemon which are shown having solutions to all the all the problems which is contrary to Islamic values that put all the powers in one God.

The biology textbooks of 10th-grade would prove how problematic it is for Pakistan to reconcile with ‘alien values.’

One of the 10th-grade biology textbooks has a section on ‘Life and its Origins’ where one religious verse comes another and none of it even speaks of the theory of evolution because it is considered unIslamic. Same is the treatment given to the Big Bang theory!

A little over two years back, a picture was doing rounds on the social media about a Physics book (authored by Professor Imran Khalid) in which the chapter starts with an assertion that the Almighty Allah created the world by uttering the Arabic word kun (be) and the world came into existence. If one can read between the lines, then the person would be able to understand that the Hindu cartoons may indeed pose a serious threat to the Pakistani way of thinking. This country, after all, was created on the basis of Two-Nation theory which says that Hindus and Muslims are two different nations and hence, none can reconcile with the other. So the banning of Hindu cartoons or even Japanese cartoons such as Doraemon is not exactly unrealistic!

No to alien values even in the textbooks for Pakistani kids! No wonders well-off parents prefer sending their children abroad for studies.

It is, therefore, no surprise, that Hindu cartoons and now, with Doraemon, even Hindi language cartoons pose a serious threat! After all, this country got divided when it refused to accept Bangla language at par with Urdu!

Also, Pakistani society cannot accept the concepts such as the ‘theory of evolution’ etc, which earned Pokemon Go, a revived Fatwa on its head.

But Hindu cartoons such as Chhota Bheem, Amar Chitra Katha, and Hanuman have always been a problem for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Chhota Bheem and Hanuman have often been accused by parents of corrupting the young minds with Hindu mythology and for contradicting with the Islamic values. This is  when Pakistan still has a Hindu population which may want to see these cartoons and introduce their children to the Hindu history. But as they say, the majority always wins! Especially, when the majority is radicalized.

Chhota Bheem was one of the Hindu cartoons that earned hate in Pakistan!

In September of 2010, the world woke up to the news of how serious the problem was; the powerful Punjab government formed a committee that was to present a report the impact of ‘Hindu’ cartoons and if they could be banned in Pakistan.

The committee was headed by none other than the Punjab government spokesman Senator Pervaiz Rasheed and also had Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Cultural Wing President and MPA, Farah Deeba, MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir and other high-ranking officials.

Eventually, Cartoon Network was taken off air but no special directive was issued!

But such was the fear of the Hindu cartoons that even the CDs with cartoons cannot be sold in Pakistan openly.

Besides the issue with the Hindu cartoons which majority Pakistani fear that it would mess up the brains of their children, the other problem is the promotion of the Hindi language! But majority Pakistanis speak Urdu which is close to Hindi! Irony?

It is a different thing that Pakistani actors and actresses are willing to even get a minuscule role just to show that they have worked in Hindi film industry otherwise known as Bollywood! Irony again?
