Today was the 72nd anniversary of Congress leader and former prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the party’s social media team of the ruined it for him by reminding the nation of his callous remarks when the anti-Sikh riots were going on.
Congress already lags behind other parties such as BJP and AAP when it comes to social media and with gaffes, after gaffes, it continues to score self-goals. But is the party even serious about revamping its social media team? Unlikely.
Meanwhile, Twitter was quick to pick up the tweet and people took screenshots and a discussion is still going on.

AAP leader Dr. Kumar Vishvas also picked up the blunder:
So Congress is glorifying Rajiv Gandhi's shameless statement on inhuman Sikh genocide! So proud of own absurdity? pic.twitter.com/bJZ5gwE4Fs

The one thing is clear, the Congress party needs to pull up its socks if it wants to survive in the digital age and it needs deft hands at the job.
As the Gandhi family is his sole Brahmastra, therefore it must work to portray the achievements in the right way. Already with AAP on the scene, it is losing its relevance.
A little while back social media team of Congress did this and ruined it for the Gandhi family on the Mother’s Day:
Mother’s Day: Youth Congress tweets picture of Indira and Rahul
Rajiv Gandhi wanted Ram Mandir?
Subramanian Swamy may be anti-Gandhi family but he has words of appreciation for Rajiv Gandhi.
In fact, he again reiterated that Rajiv Gandhi wanted to build Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Rajiv Gandhi had unlocked the Babri Masjid in 1986 and in 1989, he had allowed the shilanyas ceremony.
