Myntra is the latest brand that has come under scrutiny
Earlier it was Malabar Gold and Diamonds which had to firefight it way out of a mess that its ex-employee created by posting forged pictures of a cake-cutting ceremony claiming the brand celebrated Pakistan Independence Day.
Here is how the brand has responded to a barrage of criticism that has nothing to do with it:
We did not create this artwork nor do we endorse this. https://t.co/EWyWUEsky5

This creative was done and posted by a third party (ScrollDroll) without our knowledge or approval. They have already (1/3)

pulled down the illustration and apologized publicly for the same. Myntra does not endorse it. We will be pursuing (2/3)

legal action against them for using our brand. (3/3)

Despite the clarifications, the brand is still trying to explain that all this was done without its knowledge and it neither funded or made the cartoon. The problem could also be understood from the fact that its name has been used prominently while the website’s name was huddled in a corner which gave the wrong impression to the people.
Many were also angry at the lady being undressed in the cartoon which left a bad taste in the mouth of those who could have earlier endorsed the cartoon on the grounds of freedom of speech and expression.
#Myntra mocks our Gods and molestation of a woman. Should take a legal action against @myntra #BoycottMyntra pic.twitter.com/yPYy6jyXJE

It is to be seen what happens next now, but clearly, these are tough days for businesses.
