A Memorandum of Understanding on the up-gradation of the India-Syria Next Generation Center for Excellence in Information and Technology was signed by T. S. Tirumurti, Secretary (ER) and Dr. Riad K Abbas, Ambassador of Syrian Arab Republic to India, in New Delhi on October 01, 2019.
The objective of the MoU is to upgrade the existing India-Syria Center for Excellence in Information and Technology to the Next Generation Center for Excellence in Information and Technology (NexGen-ISCEIT). NexGen-ISCEIT will work on the concept of “Train the Trainers” and will be supported by the necessary hand-holding facilities in terms of access to e-contents, web-cast of expert lectures, contents up-gradation etc. This initiative will help in the rapid expansion of the IT Sector in Syria.
India and Syria enjoy friendly political relations based on historic and civilizational ties, a press note issued by the Ministry of External Affairs noted. It further stated that both the countries are committed to further deepening and diversifying the relation in many areas.
