New Delhi, March 15, 2016: A Kerala-based leader of the youth Congress,  Sunil Kumar never thought that this morning would be his last.

The youth leader was hacked to death right outside his home by alleged CPM activists who stabbed him 35 times in Alappuzha. He has joined Congress after leaving CPM and is said to have attacked two Leftist students earlier. This killing could be connected to that incident.

The police have detained four CPM supporters in connection with this gruesome murder that seems to have become the hallmark of Kerala’s politics as the elections are due soon in May.

What is worrisome is that in all the cases of recent violence CPM’s name has emerged as the perpetrator.

RSS and BJP workers have repeatedly become a target of violence as a large portion of population angry with the state’s declining fortune are looking for options.

While BJP K. Raju was hacked to death in Mysore yesterday, in the evening alleged CPM workers attacked Kerala BJP senior leaders and BJP Karyakartas including the former State President V Muraleedharan.

Murleedharan is also in the injured list, and has been admitted to the TVM Medical College Hospital of Kerala.

The attack happened on 14th March 2016 at a protest march organized by the BJP supporters. The attackers used stones, bricks and even iron rods injuring 16 BJP workers seriously while 3 others are struggling for their life.

Meanwhile, a strongly worded statement of Dattatreya Hosabale  has called the incident of attack on the workers unfortunate and then also called upon the citizens of India who have faith in democracy and peace to come forward to condemn the attack and fight out the red terror in the state. A statement issued by Kummanam Rajasekharan reasoned that the fear of the electoral defeat in Kerala is leading to this violence.
