Railway waives off charges for Covid testing and diet for Non Railway patients

New Delhi, May 1, 2021: Indian Railway has waived off charges for Covid testing and diet supplied during Coronavirus-related hospitalization for non Railway patients.

Ministry of Railways stated yesterday that the Government of India is following the “Whole of Government” approach where all, Ministries/Departments are working as one to prevent and fight the spread of COVID-19 pandemic infection.

It has been decided:

I. To waive off expenditure incurred on RTPCR / RAT testing of Non-Railway personnel in camps and group settings.

II. To waive off charges leviable for diet supplied during Coronavirus related hospitalization.

As part of the countrywide vaccination drive, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country stands at 15,49,89,635. More than 27 lakh vaccine doses were in the last 24 hours.

Government of India has so far provided nearly 16.37 crore vaccine doses (16,37,62,300) to States/UTs Free of Cost. Of this, the total consumption including wastages is15,58,48,782doses (as per data available at 8 am on May 1, 2021).
