New Delhi, May 18, 2016: Rishi Kapoor is turning more and more vocal on Twitter. First was his beef comments that had Twitterati up in arms and now he has broken hearts with his anti- Congress and anti-Gandhi family comments.
Rishi Kapoor not only went after Congress and asked whether the assets named after the Gandhi family were someone’s ‘baap ka maal’ or someone’s paternal property but also pitched for naming roads after other greats. His sudden outburst had Twitter shocked and people started debating as to what he said held any merit or not.
Not many know, but Raj Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor’s father, actually enjoyed great relations with the Gandhi family. In fact, Gandhi family was extremely popular among the actors and actresses of Bollywood till very recently. But it seems, that with the change in the regime and the sinking fortune of Congress, now the Gandhi family does not enjoy the halo that it once had around it. Here is what the actor wrote in a series of tweets:
Change Gandhi family assets named by Congress.Bandra/Worli Sea Link to Lata Mangeshkar or JRD Tata link road. Baap ka maal samjh rakha tha ?

If roads in Delhi can be changed why not Congress assets/property ke naam? Was in Chandigarh wahan bhi Rajeev Gandhi assets? Socho? Why?
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
We must name important assets of the country who have contributed to society. Har cheez Gandhi ke naam? I don't agree. Sochna log!
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
Film City should be named Dilip Kumar,Dev Anand,Ashok Kumar ya Amitabh Bachchan ke naam? Rajeev Gandhi udyog Kya hota hai? Socho doston!

Imagine Mohamad Rafi Mukesh Manna Dey Kishore Kumar venues on their name like in our country. Just a suggestion
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
Why Indira G airport International ? Why not Mahatma Gandhi or Bhagat Singh Ambedkar or on my name Rishi Kapoor. As superficial! What say?
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
Raj Kapoor has made India proud over the years all over even after his death. Certainly more than What has been perceived by politics.
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
While many agreed with his thought, several disagreed saying that Gandhi family too had done a lot for the nation and also that Bollywood actors are equally recognized, not just in India, but also abroad. However, by and large the Twitterati was divided on the issue.
Rishi Kapoor has been fairly active on Twitter and tweets on several things, but somehow, somewhere he lands up in a soup. Be it in Salman Khan’s case:
The Kapoors are with the Khans in their difficult time. Time is the biggest healer. God Bless!
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 6, 2015
Sorry to say but only wannabe Chamchas of Salman siding him with ridiculous support.Hum bhi well wishers hain but give logical explanations
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 6, 2015
Or on the beef issue case. Rishi Kapoor speaking his mind on the beef controversy got him no new admirers!
If it is the problem of slaughtering our "Gau mata"then the government should allow importing beef which was banned until now.All happy then
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) March 3, 2015
Yes I ate cattle specially bred elsewhere in the world for food like millions like me not killing Gau Maa. Never ever did that here. Sad!

So far, the Congress party has maintained silence on the issue, but it is yet to be seen what it has to say to this. Or perhaps, it would hope that silence would be enough to shut out the criticism?
