Hindu Advocate abducted for murder in Bangladesh, mother fights for justice

New York, April 30, 2016: Hindu advocate Palash Kumar Roy (33) has been kidnapped for murder by his employer-Md Rezaul Karim-Managing Director of Kohinoor Chemical Co.(BD) Ltd on 30.03.2016.

The family is alleging that the Hindu advocate was abducted as he did not agree to arrange mutation of 7 bighas of land properties fraudulently.

Palash resigned from the job as he did not like the illegal approach of his employer but his refusal infuriated Mohammad Rezaul Karim.

Bangladesh Minority Watch has stated that the Deputy Police Commissioner (Tejgaon Zone) DMP Dhaka and Tejgaon Police did not take any action in spite of repeated request letters to look into the matter and take action against the illegal activities of Kohinoor Chemical Co(BD) Ltd.Dhaka.

Mira Rani Roy, mother of the abducted Hindu Advocate filed a Petition case No. 03 of 2016 before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM), Dhaka under section 364/34 of Penal code for an order requesting for treating the petition as First information report (FIR) and accordingly the CMM passed order directing the Officer In Charge (OIC) of Tejgaon police station to record the case.

But, the minority watchdog states that no action has been taken by the Police and the abducted Hindu Advocate Palash Kumar Roy remains untraceable.

This latest crime against the minority community found its way to Bangladeshi newspapers on 6th and 7th of April, 2016 .

“The Daily Inquilab” dated 6th, Daily Jugantor dated 6th, The Daily Sangbad dated 6thand many others carried the news post a press conference held by the mother of the victim Hindu Advocate.

On 18.04.2016, several human rights organization including Juba Ainjibi Parishad, HBC Ainjibi Parishad, Panchagarh Juba Kallayan Parishad and others made a human chain in front of the Judges Court-Dhaka and demanded an immediate rescue of the victim Hindu Advocate and demanded punishment for the perpetrator.

Bangladesh Minority Watch spoke to Mira Rani -mother of the victim Hindu Advocate who cried and said that “due to his religious faith my son had been kidnapped and abducted for murder.”

Bangladesh Minority Watch communicated with Md. Mazaharul Islam Officer in Charge of Tejgaon police station over phone and he said that he has received the copy of the order from the court but that the victim Hindu Advocate has not yet been traced.

The Hindus in Bangladesh are increasingly being targeted for their faith.
