Bangladesh Minority Watch has reported that one more Hindu Temple was attacked in broad daylight on August 6th, 2016 by unknown perpetrators at about 11.45 am.
This latest attack took place at Attakki of Fakirhat, Police Station Bagerhat District and the name of the Temple is “Attakki Sharbojanin Shitolatala Mandir.” Here is the pic after the attack on the Temple. The perpetrators smashed the head of the Hindu deity statue.
The attacked Hindu Temple is a well-known place of worship for the Bangladesh Hindu community and is considered a landmark of sorts at Fakirhat Upazila.

In a statement, it also underscored that following the attack on the Hindu Temple and destruction of Hindu God and Goddesses statues, the perpetrators ‘left very quickly.’
The incident came to light when a Hindu devotee Depali Roy (40) wife of Ratan Roy of Attakki went for worship at this Hindu Temple and saw the deities damaged and desecrated.
Roy informed the Temple Committee about the desecration and as the news spread many national dailies of the nation picked up the news.
The public outcry helped as later when Govinda Chandra Paul lodged the First Information Report (F.I.R) at the Fakirhat police station (Case No.03 dated 07.08.2016 under section 295/296 of Bangladesh Penal code) he faced no hurdles at the police station, which is an encouraging sign as in many cases police refuses to file a complaint.
Such attacks against the minority religious properties and communities are increasing as the nation has fallen in the web of radicalization. These attacks have led to a mass exodus of minorities to India.
