Unknown perpetrators entered a Hindu Temple premises and demolished Hindu God statues at Kaligonj Upazila of Gazipur district, Bangladesh on 28th August 2016 at night.
Bangladesh’s daily “Amader Shomoy” dated 28th August 2016 also published this news and Mohammad Faruk Mahabul from the Local Union Parishad has confirmed the incident as per Bangladesh minority Watch, a leading minority watchdog of the nation.
With regards to this violation of the sanctity of the Hindu Temple a general diary No.951 dated 29.08.2016 has been filed by Pronoy Kumar Das who is the President of Puja Ujjapan Parishad of Kaligonj Upazila.
On the night of the incident, on the occasion of Durga Puja, the statue makers of the Hindu deities went for rest at night. The next morning, in a couple of hours, the Hindu Priests found that the statues of Lord Ganesh, Lord Kartick, Asur and Singha were attacked by perpetrators.
The local Officer in Charge (O.C.) Mohammad Alam Chand and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Moniruzzaman visited the spot and found those deities broken and desecrated.
Advocate Rabindra Ghosh of Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) communicated with Md. Alam Chand O.C. of Kaligonj Police station who said that no perpetrators have been identified for the desecration of the Hindu Temple. Adding salt to the injury Md. Alam, however, said that some rival Hindu groups might have done the damage.
BDMW, however, has revealed that Islamic radicals operating in the country have committed this crime. Pujaris or the Hindu Priests have also apprehended the same. The minority watchdog believes that Police approach to the case could lead the case getting suppressed as no case has been launched and a mere General Diary is worthless.

Abducted child of Hindu Purohit (3) was rescued from a mud filled hole after 4 days of being abducted by the Imam of Jame Masjid -Rabiul Islam.
The Daily Jugantor dated 25th August 2016 carried this news and the Bangladesh Police later said that the rescued children is safe.
The Imam of the Serajgonj Mosque is being questioned.
Hindu woman sexually assaulted while feeding child in Bangladesh
Hindu Woman, Tithi Rani Roy aged 30 was sexually assaulted by Matiur Rahman, who is the President of Bastuhara League and a newly elected member of the Tahirpur Union Parishad of Sunamgonj District, on 22.08.2016 at around 10 pm.
The FIR lodged by Tithi Rani Roy says that when she was feeding her children at about 10 at night, the perpetrator forced his entry into their room and tried to rape her in front of her kids.
Due to cries of the victim, Motiur Rahman got scared and tried to flee abandoning the crying victim and her children.
However, the locals gathered on the spot and they beat him up, later, however, he was able to flee.
Advocate Rabindra Ghosh of Bangladesh Minority Watch contacted Mohammad Shahidullah, Officer in Charge of Tahirpur police station, who said that a case has been registered (Tahirpur P.S. case No.14 dated 22.08.2016 under section 10 of Nari-O-Shisu Nirjaton Ain,2002) and the perpetrator will be arrested soon.
However, the Hindu victim is now living in fear as the perpetrator is forcing her through Awami League local members to go for a ‘compromise.’
