Malaysian Indian leader Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy who is under fire from several Muslim leaders for trying his unyielding stance on radical preacher Zakir Naik wanted by India was also instrumental in bringing peace to Aceh. Now, you may know that Aceh is Sharia-ruled Muslim majority province of Indonesia and Ramasamy is being accused of being close to Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a militant group who has now been accused of murdering Muslims in Sri Lanka by senior Muslim leaders.
Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (GAM) member M. Nur Djuli has now come out openly in the defense of the unyielding Malaysian Indian Prof. Dr. Ramasamy and laughed out at the allegations of being a ‘terrorist’ with a LOL.
Ramasamy was instrumental in achieving peace during peace deliberations which took place in Finland with Jakarta and GAM.
The success of the peace led to the abandonment of the GAM’s freedom/separation drive which was going on from 1976 to 2005.
The Malaysian Indian leader was part of a Finnish team that led peace talks between GAM and Indonesia.
In 2005, with the signing of peace treaty, the decades of violence finally ended but all the efforts of Malaysian Indian leader Ramasamy have now been forgotten by Malaysian Muslim leaders and ideologues as he has refused to bow down on the issue of deportation of fugitive Zakir Naik even when his efforts were to achieve peace in a Muslim-majority country’s sole Shariah ruled province.

M. Nur Djuli, the member of GAM delegation (Aceh), also said that he had personally requested the Aceh liberation movement chief Malik Mahmud to include Malaysian Indian leader Ramsamy in the team and that the Acehnese will remain forever indebted for the service of the Penang Deputy CM.
Ramasamy is also unyielding on many issues with regards to the Hindu-majority Malaysian Indian community.

How are you doing? I read this press report about you being a “terrorist”. Can’t help but LoL.
The crucial second, third and fourth rounds of the Helsinki Peace Negotiations between the Free Aceh Movement (GAM), and the Government of Indonesia, that ended the bloody 30 year conflict, would not have been that successful without your tremendous help to our delegation. I personally requested our leader, Malik Mahmud, to include you in our team.
We Acehnese will be forever indebted to you.
I hope very much you could use your position as Deputy Mentri Besar of Penang, to revive the traditional trading links between Aceh and your State, especially in establishing direct ferry service, so that Agricultural /farm products from ordinary kampong people in Aceh could flow easily to Penang and beyond.
