Kalpana Lajmi, filmmaker and screenwriter who is credited for bringing women-centric roles to the mainstream movies, passed away this Sunday after a prolonged battle with a kidney ailment.
Kalpana Lajmi was diagnosed with a malignant tumour on her kidney and was recently admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, where she died following multiple organ failure. She was 64.
The filmmaker, however, had her friends by her side not just in the end, but also in her life, revealed actor Neena Gupta. Neena Gupta told her followers that actor Alia Bhatt and especially her mother Soni Razdan were helping Kalpana Lajmi financially as well as emotionally. Neena Gupta said:
I have to tell u all how my dear friend Soni has been helping financially and emotionally our friend Kalpana Lajmi and also Alia Bhatt and others for helping out but Soni was the one coordinating the help for our dear friend thank you Soni, god bless u.
