Maulana Tauqeer Raza broke every law of propriety which governs one’s public life when he chose to target Hindus in front of strongman and Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Ajit Singh who merely looked on while he continued whimsical attacks on the Hindu community. The two shared the stage for a social harmony program in Bareilly but what he said was completely unsavory for the occasion and completely uncalled for.
Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan is a Sunni Muslim scholar and a full-time politician from Uttar Pradesh and enjoys close relations with all political parties.
Maulana Tauqeer Raza threatens, coaxes and insults
Taking on the issue of polygamy he said that in your religion (Hindus?) one woman has 5 husbands. He was hinting at Draupadi and said he knows cases like these very well. He went further while Ajit Singh looked on and stated that in your religion women don’t even know who the father of the child is. He threatened that if anyone meddles in their affairs then they will meddle is everything hinting to not touch the Muslim community.

He also said that the Uniform Civil Code is problematic as those who have done nikah will suffer and this is being done to ignite fight between communities hinting that the talks were on to create fissures in the society. In short, the Uniform Civil Code, abolition of polygamy and triple talaqs aare unacceptable to him.
