New Delhi, November 3, 2020: Late on 2nd November at around 10.30 pm a crowd chanting religious slogans attacked ‘Sheetal’ Hindu Temple in the Lee Market, Karachi, Pakistan.

Murtis of Hindu deities like Lord Ganesha, Sheshnag, Hanuman, and Shiva Linga were thrown by the charged crowd. Pakistani Rangers reached the spot but were unable to do anything as the crowd asked for handing over the Hindu boy who was accused of blasphemy.

The Hindu boy, despite his denials, was arrested to disperse the crowd. It is unclear where he is now.

During this unrest, Hindu homes were also attacked but there are no financial estimates available to deduce the cost of repairs.

Due to constant persecution, there has been a steady stream of Pakistani Hindu migrants coming to India, forcing India to enact the Citizenship (Amendment) Act which has been criticized by Pakistan as the act prioritizes citizenship grant to a member of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi or Christian community from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

The Pakistani Muslim community is on anger over France after certain comments were made by the French President Emmanuel Macron.
