Blogger in jail for blasphemy is a free man now!

West Bengal  saw some relief when the news came to light that a jailed blogger has been released. The blogger was accused of committing blasphemy against Islam.

West Bengal- based NGO Hindu Samhati took the case of the blogger after his family approached it for help. Tarak Biswas was arrested after the ruling party TMC (All India Trinamool Congress) strongman Sanaullah Khan lodged a complaint against him claiming that through his writings he has hurt the Muslim sentiments. Since then he was languishing in the jail with no help being received from any group.

On November 3rd, 2016, Hindu Samhati’s leader Tapan Ghosh  wrote about the blogger and said that:

“Just now we got bail for Tarak Biswas from Calcutta High Court in the Tamluk case. Hon’ble Justice Joymalya Bagchi granted bail.”

Then on November 7th, 2016, Ghosh told his followers that:

” Facebook activist Tarak Biswas will be released from Tamluk Jail within 2 hours after spending 53 days in jail.”

On the same day, i.e. on November 7th, 2016, Hindu Samhati leader released pictures of the activist and said that:

Facebook activist Tarak Biswas at my place after spending long 53 days in jail for his allegedly offensive post against Islam.

While Tarak got lucky, many are not so lucky and even fake charges of blasphemy are used to settle personal scores.
