A Hindu businessman named Ashok Kumar, in his 30’s was killed by an unidentified assailant on October 7th, 2019 at Juma Khan Hotel Hub Balochistan.

Angered by the murder, the Hindu community of Balochistan called for a strike at Hub, Bela, Othal and other places. The community had also blocked the highway for a few hours demanding action from the administration.

After police failed to clear the road, the paramilitary force ‘Pakistan Rangers’ were called to disperse the Hindu community.

Kheal Das Kohistani, a minority leader from Pakistan condemned the killing and said:

I strongly reprehend the barbarous killing of another Hindu Community member. Ashok Kumar from Hub, Balochistan killed. When will the Government take action for the protection of Minority’s? Peaceful Minority’s are on target since long and no heed is being paid to our voice.

Balochistan has seen violent campaign against the Hindus, like in 2017 it saw massive protests after the police did not hand over a Hindu man suspected of committing blasphemy against Islam.

Murder of Hindu businessman Ravi Kumar in Balochistan‘s Chaman also brought Hindus to the street. Santosh, another Hindu businessman met the same fate.

But these incidents rarely get covered with as much alacrity as is needed.

Even in the case of Late Ashok Kumar, no reputable Pakistani media house has covered the murder.
