What’s up with Indonesia? First, it was in the news when the world woke to the news of a unique cafe where the diners get to sit on toilets and the food is served in not bowls but squat loos!
This happened in Jamban Cafe in Semarang of Java, Indonesia and got the world talking! The idea behind this move was to educate people about the pitfalls of open defecation and to make them aware about sanitation.
Jamban in itself means toilet in the local language and the restaurant takes group bookings
But was it necessary and if you are wondering if anyone would eat the food up here at all? Well! You are in for a surprise! The business is doing well and people love the concept and keep coming here for awesome food in what many would say grotesque setting! But then, for those who keep coming it is all about the taste!
If that makes you think is still bizarre then you would be surprised to know that the conservative Indonesia is debating ‘food porn’ now.
Yes, you heard it right! The food porn is a charge levied against rice noodle cheekily named as ‘bikini.’ Add to it is the tagline which says ‘squeeze me.’
The packet has a picture of a scantily dressed woman in a bikini with ample cleavage and this, the naysayers, say is way too much for the Muslim-majority nation and that this was a way to introduce the young minds to pornography and adultery!
So much ado for a snack you say? Well! Yeah! That is Indonesia for you.
Earlier, from Indonesia itself, a sex-doll was found being revered as an angel in the nation by a bunch of people who had no idea what it was! So, indeed when it comes to weird stuff, Indonesia does not stop surprising!
