Myanmar: Arrest warrant against Buddhist Bin Laden

An anti-Muslim Buddhist Monk of Myanmar known for vitriol against the Rohingya Muslims may get arrested as an arrest warrant has been issued against him in Myanmar.

The warrant was issued on Tuesday (May 28th, 2019) by the Myanmar police but the details have not been shared with the media says a report filed by AFP.

Ashin Wirathu is spearheading Buddhist nationalist movement that has been at loggerheads with Myanmar’s Rohingyas.

The law, which led to the issue of the arrest warrant, bans anyone who “attempts to bring into hatred or contempt or excites or attempts to excite disaffection towards the Government” and carries a maximum jail sentence of three years.
