New York, April 18, 2016: Tahir-Ul-Qadri who is an eminent Sufi Scholar in the subcontinent with significant followers in India is news for the wrong reasons.
A video of the eminent Sufi scholar has emerged in which he is shown to be discussing Ghazwa-e-Hind or destruction of the Hindu-majority India.
In the video, Tahir-Ul-Qadri is shown speaking about how India must be conquered and its political leaders must be captured and killed to fulfill a prophecy.
What’s most worrisome is that Tahir-Ul-Qadri has a significant number of zealot followers in the subcontinent and he himself had met the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose claim to fame is the self-bestowed title of a ‘Hindu Nationalist,’ on the sidelines of the World Sufi Forum. Tahir-Ul-Qadri is of Pakistani origin and he is considered the ‘moderate’ voice among sections of Sufis.
But what he says isn’t new considering that the Hindus are considered to be Polytheists and those who worship ‘idols’ which is not acceptable to radical Muslims.
Tahir-Ul-Qadri had visited Gujarat in 2012 when he was provided the Z-plus security arrangement by the then state government which was led by Narendra Modi.
Tahir-Ul-Qadri was in Gujarat to lay the foundation stone of India headquarters of Minhaj-ul-Quran International in Karjan.
There is another prominent Muslim figure discussing the theory of Ghazwa-e-Hind and why it is necessary.
In the video from 2011, a lecture by a prominent Islamic cleric and former banker Irfan-ul-Haq says that very the genesis of Pakistan is to defeat India and Hinduism at the hands of Pakistan. Here is what the video caption reads:
“The cleric further tells his enthralled audience that Pakistan came about for the sole purpose of being the springboard of the end-of-times ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ when Pakistan’s military and people will swarm India and wipe out once and for all the practice of Hinduism from the face of the Earth.
He says only then will the armies of Islam march to meet the reincarnation of Jesus Christ in Syria from where Europe will be conquered and once that is done, human civilization will end on the prophesized day of Qayamat (Qayama in Arabic, the end of times.”
So whatever Tahir-Ul-Qadri has been heard saying, is something which is common in circles. But Modi’s meeting Tahir-Ul-Qadri without doing due checks is something that his team will have to answer at some stage.
