It is alleged that one Hindu youth named Titu Chandra’s Facebook account was used to post a picture of the Prophet Muhammad which allegedly made the Muslims feel insulted. It is also being alleged by sources who spoke to Currentriggers.com that the Muslims gathered at the Pagla Pirer Bazar for the Friday prayers and started sloganeering against those who insult Islam. They also demanded the arrest of Titu and as the crowd swelled to many thousands, it then took out a procession and marched towards Thakurbari village which is a Hindu majority area.
