Hindus angry at prayer hall desecration, announce black protest

Dhaka, March 25, 2016Report has come to light that the prayer room of the minority Hindu students at the Islamic University was desecrated and vandalized on 23rd March, 2016 on the eve of Hindu festival Holi by perpetrators drawing condemnation from Hindus across the country.

After this attack the Hindus, students and teachers, demanded action against the culprits and a chain procession against the desecration has been announced for March 26, 2016 which is also Bangladesh’s Independence Day.

The agitating people will protest against the desecration wearing black badges.

A human chain will be formed in front of the administration building of the university and a memorandum will be served to the Vice-Chancellor. The Bangladeshi daily prothom-alo.com has also reported the incident.

The Hindu students and teachers have unequivocally condemned this incident and have demanded punishment and have also alleged that the Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL) activists are behind this desecration and that the attack was carried out at around three o’clock on the Wednesday afternoon.

The University Teachers Association General Secretary Oli Ullah demanded justice in a press statement and asked punishment for the perpetrators while the BCL general secretary Amit Kumar Das told reporters that if it is confirmed that the BCL leaders and activists were involved in the incident then organization will take actions against them.

Proctor Rahman has vouched that this incident would be thoroughly investigated and those responsible for the desecration will be brought to justice.

Bangladesh Minority Watch has demanded immediate arrest of perpetrators responsible for crime against religion.

Hindus have increasingly being targeted in Bangladesh and many cases of human rights violations have been reported.

This news is one of the many that have come from the South Asian nation and due to growing radicalization the minorities like Hindus are fleeing the country and taking shelter in India.
