Karachi, March 21, 2016: Darul Uloom Karachi has cleared the air regarding a fatwa that was allegedly issued by Maulana Rafi Usmani which pronounced that liking Facebook posts of the model Qandeel Baloch were haram.

Maulana Muzammil who happens to be Mufti Rafi Usmani’s Personal Secretary has claimed that the said fatwa is phony.

The Dailycapital.pk reports him as saying this on the issue of fatwa on the Pakistani model: “Fraud. Totally fraud. It is me -Maulana Muzammil- who forwards all the fatwas by Mufti Usmani to the media and elsewhere and he -Mufti Usmani- has said nothing about this. The fatwa circulating on the social media is baseless. The letterhead being shown in these photos has been replaced long ago and we do not issue Fatwas on that letterhead anymore.”

Qandeel Baloch was herself retweeting the said fatwa which her fans and followers were posting.

But now, whether fatwa or no fatwa, this Pakistani model has finally achieved some level of notoriety that is needed to ensure that she stays relevant for some time. It is yet to be seen if she is able to milk it to stay in the public consciousness and make a full-fledged career out of it. Already, with her antics she has amassed a huge following both in India and Pakistan with many mocking her. But  could this be the start of a career in the mainstream film or television industries in the two countries? We never know.

We had earlier reported that Qandeel Baloch has had a fatwa issued in her name which finally makes her somewhat relevant now. Here is the link to that report.

Qandeel Baloch became a celebrity overnight when she said that she would do a strip dance sequence for Pakistani cricket team if they win the match against India. Post their loss, she instead ranted against the team in foulest of language and did a tease dance for Indian fans.
